Iran issue warning to Gulf nation

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned countries in the Persian Gulf that 'good neighborliness and self-restraint have ended,' stating that the United States and its allies would be deprived of the region’s oil and gas 'for years' following reported strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

The statement, attributed to the IRGC, said: “We will deal with the infrastructure of the United States and its partners in the Persian Gulf in such a way that they will be deprived of the region's oil and gas for years.”

The warning followed reported airstrikes by the United States and Israel on Iran’s Kharg Island, a key oil-export terminal in the Persian Gulf, according to Iran’s state-linked Mehr News Agency. The report said the strikes targeted installations including a radar station, docking facilities and military sites.

Iranian media also reported a major explosion on Kharg Island, which handles a significant share of Iran’s crude exports. The development came hours ahead of a deadline set by Donald Trump, who had demanded that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on infrastructure including bridges and energy facilities.

Separately, Iran’s state television, citing a provincial official, said a bridge near the city of Qom was struck. The deputy governor of the province said the attack targeted a rail bridge south of Tehran and resulted in two deaths.

The Israeli military said it had carried out a “wide-scale wave of strikes targeting dozens of infrastructure sites” across Iran. In a statement, it said the operations were directed at sites linked to what it described as the Iranian government, without specifying locations or targets.

Following the strikes, IRGC officials warned that Tehran could target infrastructure belonging to the United States and its regional partners. The statement said retaliation could extend to disrupting oil and gas flows in the region.

Iranian officials also said the response would not be limited to the immediate region if “red lines” were crossed, according to statements carried by Iranian media.

At the same time, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that any potential negotiations with the United States would require an immediate halt to military strikes, guarantees against future attacks, and compensation for damage caused.
