US stock futures higher
Aug 28 2026 6:03PM
S&P 500 futures were relatively unchanged on Friday as investors monitored earnings reports and awaited Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh’s latest address.

Futured tied to the broad market index traded just above the flatline, while Nasdaq 100 futures lost 0.3%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up 44 points, or 0.1%.

Gap shares jumped 16% despite a mixed quarterly report as the retail announced a new chief executive for the struggling Old Navy brand. Marvell Technology slid about 8% after issuing current-quarter guidance for non-GAAP gross margin that disappointed the Street.

Stocks advanced on Thursday, led higher by Nvidia’s post-earnings rally of nearly 9%. The technology sector, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite all recorded their best day since Aug. 4.

Asia-Pacific market closed mixed on Friday. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 added 0.41, South Korea’s Kospi lost 1.79%. China’s CSI 300 fell 0.46%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.6%.

Traders are looking ahead to Warsh’s planned speech at the central bank’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While not tied to a formal policy meeting, investors will be watching for signals about where Warsh believe interest rates could go next. Fed funds futures are pricing in a roughly 64% likelihood that central bank holds rates steady at its meeting next month, according to CME’s FedWatch tool.

“Investors have very little history with how he talks,” said Natalia Lojevsky, managing director at CIFC Asset Management. “New chairs use this stage to set the frame for their tenure, and whatever language he establishes Friday gets applied to every data print for the next year.”

With Thursday’s advance, the three major indexes are on track to end the week higher. If the Dow ends positive, it would mark the blue-chip index’s first winning week in three.
