Marico profit rises 25%

Parachute-maker Marico posted consolidated net profit of Rs 630 crore, up 25 percent YOY from Rs 504 crore reported in the same quarter last year, helped by resilient domestic demand, easing copra prices and strong growth in newer businesses.

India business delivered 11 percent volume growth, highest in the last 8 quarters.

"During the quarter, demand trends remained steady, supported by resilient economic activity. While we remain optimistic about the consumption trends, we continue to closely monitor inflationary conditions and the progression of monsoon amidst the evolving El Nino forecast," Marico said in statement on August 4.

Revenue from operations rose 23 percent to Rs 3,957 crore. Consolidated EBITDA margin was up 40 basis points in the quarter at 20.7 per cent.

EBITDA stands for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.

EBITDA and consolidated net profit both rose 25% during the quarter, their fastest growth in 28 quarters, the FMCG company said.

On a standalone basis, net profit was down 40 percent YOY to Rs 460 crore amid increased expenses. Standalone revenue rose 19 percent to Rs  2,794 crore in the quarter ended June 30.
