Aug 26 2026 6:48PM
Oil prices fell on Wednesday, extending a slide, after Iran and Oman said they discussed a temporary deal to resume shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

West Texas Intermediate’s contract for October delivery fell more than 2% to $80.49 a barrel, while Brent crude’s October contract slipped 2% to $86.75 a barrel. If the slump continues, it will mark the fourth day of declines for the U.S. benchmark and the third day for the international benchmark, according to Dow Jones Market Data. WTI is down nearly 7% in the past five days and Brent is down 9% in the same period.
