Emcure Pharmaceuticals kicked off FY27 with a strong set of numbers, reporting a 36.2 percent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 292 crore for the June quarter, outpacing revenue growth as higher operating leverage, productivity gains and robust international business momentum lifted profitability.

Revenue from operations rose 22.8 percent  to Rs 2,580 crore, while EBITDA grew 25.8 percent with margin expanding 50 basis points to 19.7 percent.

The Pune-based drugmaker's international business remained the biggest growth engine, expanding 34.2 percent to Rs.1485 crore and accounting for nearly 58 percent of total revenue.

Management said growth was driven by ramp-up in the base business, new launches and favourable currency movements. The domestic business grew a relatively slower 10.2 percent to Rs 1,095 crore, aided by strong performances in CNS, cardiology and women’s health therapies, along with an improvement at Zuventus Healthcare.

Among overseas markets, Europe revenue climbed 32.8 percent to Rs 537 crore, supported by strong base business performance and higher contribution from Liposomal Amphotericin B. Canada revenue rose 24.6 percent to Rs 427 crore, while the rest-of-world segment surged 44.8 percent to Rs 522 crore, led by a strong antiretroviral (ARV) portfolio.

Despite a 340-basis-point contraction in gross margin to 58.4 percent due to a higher share of international sales and product mix changes, EBITDA margin improved as operating efficiencies offset cost pressures. Profit before tax increased 35.3 percent to Rs 394 crore, while PAT margin expanded 110 basis points to 11.3 percent.
