Tata Sierra EV launch on June 30
Jun 24 2026 5:31PM
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles is all set to launch the electric version of the Sierra SUV in India on June 30. The company has also confirmed that the Tata Sierra.ev will have a dual-motor quad-wheel-drive (QWD) version.

The Sierra.ev will be Tata Motors' seventh electric passenger vehicle after the Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev. It will sit between the Curvv.ev and the Harrier.ev in the company's electric SUV line-up.

In profile, the Sierra.ev will look similar to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Sierra, which was launched in India in November 2025. However, there will be some EV-specific updates.

The front will be characterised by an upright stance and slim headlights, while the rear will have a connected set-up for the LED taillights. The electric SUV will drive on 19-inch alloy wheels. The whole 'Sierra' brand identity will remain intact.

Inside the cabin, you will see the triple-screen layout, comprising the 10.25-inch digital cluster, the 12.3-inch infotainment system and the 12.3-inch passenger screen. This was much talked about in the Sierra ICE. We do expect the electric SUV to be similarly packaged in terms of features as its ICE counterpart in addition to some EV-specific upgrades.

The Sierra.ev will also get bells and whistles like automatic climate control, JBL Black 12-speaker setup, dash-integrated soundbar, Dolby Atmos, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2+ ADAS with 22 functions.

The Sierra ICE has scored a five-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP. We do not expect the Sierra.ev to be any less in terms of safety standards.

Tata Motors has already confirmed that, in addition to the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version, the Sierra.ev will also have a QWD configuration. While the RWD version will have a single motor, the QWD version will have a motor each at the front and rear.

The motor output and battery pack details are not out yet. However, we do expect Tata Motors to target a range of over 500 km for the Sierra.ev on a single full charge. Looking at the strides the company has made in the EV space, we expect it to meet the target.

We expect the Tata Sierra.ev price to be in the range of Rs 17 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XEV 9e and VinFast VF7.
