Asian markets decline
Jul 20 2026 6:21PM
Most Asian stock market indices tumbled today, as continued losses in semiconductor shares weighed on investor sentiment across the region. Taiwan’s Taiex plunged 6.5 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 shed four per cent, China’s Shanghai Composite dropped three per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped 1.8 per cent and Singapore’s Strait Times dipped half a per cent. Meanwhile, South Korean markets were closed for a holiday.
Major European indices were trading on a negative note today. France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.8 per cent, Germany’s DAX declined 0.7 per cent, and London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.2 per cent, when reports last came in.
